We offer a broad range of options for the many different types of skin lesions and the simple to complex wounds which we treat. This includes relatively strait forward procedures performed in the office to the complex excision of malignant lesions under sedation or general anesthesia. These lesions may develop on any part of the body from the scalp to the toes and not infrequently may involve multiple areas.
Examples of the Procedures That We Perform Include
- Incision and drainage of abscesses (pockets filled with pus), and infected cysts (fluid-filled sacs), and sweat glands (apocrine).
- Removal of benign skin lesions such as skin tags, sebaceous cysts (oil glands), lipomas (fatty tissue tumors), and other abnormal growths beneath the skin.
- Removal of changing or suspicious moles (nevi).
- Wide removal of malignant skin growths such as basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas, melanomas (malignant moles) and sarcomas (with the option of specialized tests including frozen sections or sentinel node biopsy).
- Complete removal (excisional biopsy) of lymph nodes and deeper structures of uncertain origin (etiology) to aid in determining the best treatment.
- Removal of small pieces of (skin biopsies both punch or excisional) for further evaluation and improve treatment (includes routine pathology and immunofluorescence testing).
- Skin grafts (both partial and full thickness) to cover exposed areas where the skin has been lost.
- Removal of painful ingrown toenails.
- Removal (Excisional debridement) of dead tissue from wounds to hasten healing.
- Hyperbaric oxygen treatments as part of advanced wound care: Use of a specialized unit capable of providing very high oxygen levels to promote healing of wounds that have failed standard treatment.
